The event features a concert of the The United States Army Field Band and Soldier's Chorus (Washington D.C.) on Saturday evening April 17, 2010. (7PM) at the 10,000 seat I-Wireless Center in Moline, IL. General David Petraeus (USA) will make a personal video appearance.

The participation of Iowa Governor Chet Culver  is anticipated, along with a US Senator, five generals and one admiral-one flag officer form each branch of the service.

We didn't plan it this way, but the concert event falls a week after the first anniversary of Quad City native, CPL Jason Pautsch who was killed in action on April 10, 2009 in Mosul, Iraq. While we ’d  like to honor Jason and some of the other soldiers from the area who have been killed in action,  we ’d also like to honor active duty soldiers and generate support for the mission they serve all over the world.   It seems rather incongruent when people claim they “support the troops” yet don't support the mission of the troops.

In a nutshell,
we ’d like people to leave the event embracing the values of this quote:

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things.  The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war, is much worse.  The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

John Stuart Mill (1806-1873)
English philosopher and political economist
